Terms of service

These terms are between you and North 27 LLC. Section 3 is the one that matters most. The app is for entertainment and self-reflection. It is not a source of advice.

These terms cover the North 27 website and North 27’s astrology app. Other North 27 products publish their own terms where they need them.

1 · Who these terms are between

We, us and North 27 mean North 27 LLC, an Arizona limited liability company based in Scottsdale, Arizona. You means the person using this website or our astrology app. The app means that app, in any form we make it available.

2 · Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy, which is part of them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you are agreeing on behalf of someone else you need the authority to do that.

3 · What the app is for, and not for

The app is for entertainment and self-reflection only. It reads astronomical positions against birth information you enter and writes about them. Astrology is not a science. We do not present it as one. Nothing the app produces is a factual claim about you, about anyone else, or about the future.

The app is built to refuse that role. It is instructed not to predict events and not to tell anyone what to do. If it ever appears to give you a directive, that is a defect and we want to know about it.

It is not for emergencies or crises. If you or someone else is in danger, or you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please stop and contact emergency services. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Outside the United States, findahelpline.com lists crisis lines by country. The app cannot help with that and is not designed to try.

Anything the app writes about another person describes a chart. It does not describe them. Do not use it to make a decision about another person, and please do not use it to explain someone to themselves against their wishes.

4 · Who may use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18 you must have permission from a parent or guardian, and by using the app you confirm that you have it. The app is not directed at children. An account we learn belongs to a child under 13 will be deleted. A parent or guardian may add a chart for their own child, subject to section 7.

You may not use the app if doing so is unlawful where you are, or if we have previously ended your access.

5 · Your account

One account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself and use one you are not using elsewhere. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information when you sign up, including an email address you can actually receive mail at. It is how we would reach you about your account or a security problem.

Access may require an invitation while we release the app in stages.

6 · Service changes and availability

The app is offered free of charge and it changes often. That has consequences you are accepting.

• It can break. There is no uptime commitment, no support commitment and no service level of any kind.
• It will change. Features may be added, altered or removed as the app improves, including features you liked.
• No service is immune to failure. We keep backups so an outage or a mistake does not destroy accounts, as the privacy policy describes. Even so, anything you would be devastated to lose should live somewhere else too.
• It can end. We may end your access at any time. If we shut the app down we will make a reasonable effort to tell account holders first and to give you a way to retrieve your content.

If you send us feedback, thank you. You agree we may use it to improve the product without owing you anything for it. You keep the right to your own ideas. We are simply not taking on a confidentiality obligation for something you volunteer.

7 · Other people’s information

Most of what this app holds is about people who are not using it. When you add a person to your circle you are entering their birth information into a service only you can see. You are responsible for that.

Adding someone means you have a reasonable basis to enter their information and, where they can give it, their permission. For a child it means you are their parent or guardian. Do not add a person who has told you not to. If someone asks to be removed, remove them. You can delete a person and everything the app wrote about them at any time. If a person writes to us about being in someone’s circle we will act on it, which may mean contacting you or removing the chart ourselves.

Do not share what the app writes about another person in a way that would embarrass or harm them. It describes a chart. It was never meant to be evidence about a human being.

8 · Acceptable use

Do not break the law with the app. Do not try to reach another account or any part of the system you were not given. Do not probe, scan, overload or attack the service. Do not scrape it or use it through automated means. Do not resell it or offer its output as your own service. Do not reverse-engineer it except where law says you may. Do not remove or obscure any notice in it. Do not use it to harass, profile, screen or make decisions about anyone, and that includes hiring, housing, credit, insurance and custody. Do not use it to produce content that is unlawful, hateful or abusive.

9 · Content written by AI

The writing in the app comes from a large language model. Claude, run by Anthropic, PBC, working from the chart data the app computes. So what you read was written by a machine, which means:

• it can be wrong, including confidently and in detail
• it can be inconsistent, giving different answers to the same question
• no person reviews it before you see it, because nobody sits between the model and your screen
• it is not unique to you, and similar text may be written for other people

Check anything you would act on. What you type in a chat goes to Anthropic to produce the reply, as the privacy policy explains.

10 · Your content, our content

Yours stays yours. The birth information, labels and messages you enter remain yours. You grant us only the licence we need to run the app for you. To store that content, process it, send the necessary parts to the companies named in the privacy policy, and write and display readings from it. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies in backups as the privacy policy describes.

Ours stays ours. The app, this website, their design, code and text, and the North 27 name and mark are owned by North 27 LLC or licensed to us. The readings the app writes for you are yours to keep, read and share with the people they are about. What you may not do is republish them at scale, or use the app or its output to build a competing product or service.

Astronomical calculations rely on publicly available ephemeris data and open-source libraries under their own licences. Geocoding uses OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence.

11 · Fees

The app is free. It has no payment processing in it and we are not collecting payment details. If we introduce paid features later we will publish the prices and terms and ask you to agree to them before we charge you anything. Nothing you have already put into the app will be held hostage to that decision.

12 · Suspension and ending your use

You can stop at any time. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, in Settings, and the privacy policy says how. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to, or if we discontinue the app. If we end your access for something other than a breach by you, we will try to give you notice and a chance to retrieve your content. Sections 3, 7 and 9 through 18 survive the end of these terms.

13 · Disclaimer of warranties

The app and this website are provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that anything it produces will be accurate, complete or suitable for any purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. The ones they do not allow do not apply to you.

14 · Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, North 27 LLC and its members, officers and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or any decision you or anyone else made in reliance on anything the app produced. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app or this website will not exceed the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars (US$100). These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, and they apply to the maximum extent permitted where you live. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15 · Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless North 27 LLC and its members, officers and agents from claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising out of your use of the app in breach of these terms, or out of information you entered about another person without a proper basis for doing so.

16 · Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought only in the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona, and you and we each consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may still bring a qualifying claim in small claims court. Before filing anything, please write to us. Nearly everything is fixable in a conversation and we would rather have that one.

If the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods would otherwise apply, it does not.

17 · Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. For a change that materially affects your rights we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. Using the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, stop using it and ask us to delete your account.

18 · General

These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between us about the app and they replace anything said before. If a provision is held unenforceable the rest stays in force and that provision is narrowed only as far as needed. Our not enforcing something is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Nothing here creates a partnership, agency or employment relationship.
